Protect our borough
To the Editor: The Borough’s non-union employees (directors and borough manager) are trying to pass two resolutions/ordinances for themselves; they want a 5 percent raise, then to cash in their sick leave. Some have accrued 2,000 hours of sick leave, and all are at retirement age. In our opinion honesty isn't one of their attributes, greed is. The third is to update union employees' job descriptions. Their resolu...

This view of Stacy Studebaker's garden illustrates what's "in" for this year: Connecting with nature is a key element in garden trends for 2013, tagged as the Year of Bliss, according to Garden Media Group. Growing your own, raising chickens, harvesting wild edibles and getting outside (and away from the computer) are ways that we are actively seeking joy and meaning in our lives.

Garden Gate: 2013 is the year of bliss
Don’t worry, be happy: 2013 is the year of bliss. That’s according to Garden Media Group, a trend-spotting agency in Pennsylvania that has designated 2013 as the year when gardeners turn their backs on trouble and strife and more actively seek joy and bliss in their everyday life. “Connecting with nature is a necessity, not a luxury,” says Suzi McCoy, head of GMG, which releases a Garden Trends Report every year....
