Rain is not a dog’s best friend
I have to clear Gizmo’s name right off the bat. Contrary to popular belief, the pup is not the underwear bandit. As much as he likes to steal and hide stuff around the Clarkston house, I have yet to find a stash of women’s panties under his covers. Now to something of more importance. When I got home from work late Wednesday evening, I had to play therapist to Gizmo. Yes, I’ve stayed at a Holiday Inn. I left the t...

Gizmo likes the King’s chances
Gizmo has morphed into the Hamburglar. I cleaned the kitchen counter this week, and in the process tossed a bag of stale hamburger buns in the garbage. Turns out the pup really likes month-old buns. He paraded around the house with his teeth grasping on to the bread. I carefully grabbed it out of his mouth without him taking a bite of one of my digits. Little did I know the little rascal had stashed hamburger buns...

City to charge for Baranof ice rink usage
When the Baranof Park Ice Rink opens next week, users will have to pay to use. That is a change from years past. City of Kodiak Parks and Recreation director Corey Gronn said the advisory board recommended fees for ice rink usage to match that of other city facilities, such as the swimming pool. “All of our programs had a charge with the exception of the ice rink,” Gronn said. When the rink opens Nov. 10, youths y...
