TEEING OFF: Gizmo outpicks the experts
The dog got the best of me last week. Check that, the dog got the best of everybody last week. While the entire world population struggled picking NFL games in Week 10, Gizmo prospered. The Chin, who spends his days on the couch watching sports, gobbled his way to a 10-win week. How did I do? I got two right. Yes, two lousy games. I could have used the method of tossing darts at a dartboard and gotten more than tw...

TEEING OFF: What to do when baseball season ends
When baseball ends I often think about Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby’s quote: “People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.” I prefer to turn my full attention to the Seahawks, and of course Gizmo and Pepper Jack. But before I dive into the state of the Hawks, I must settle the trending Internet question: Is a hot dog a sandwich? A ...

Teeing Off: Baseball is a game of firsts
Halloween came early at the Clarkston apartment. While everybody was sleeping early Tuesday morning, Gizmo trick-or-treated the garbage can. I didn’t see how generous the garbage can was, but his mom did. I got a full report, via text message, when I woke up hours after she discovered the mess. Turns out the garbage can was handing out spaghetti squash seeds, and Gizmo loved it. I caught him going back for seconds...
