Chiton preparation

The Alutiiq Museum, with Elder Florence Pestrikoff, hosts the next Alutiiq foods workshop at noon today. Pestrikoff will teach a class on how to clean and prepare chitons, mollusks commonly found in the intertidal region. The museum continues to seek ptarmigan for another workshop lesson.

Dance and potluck

The St. Innocent’s Academy Family Dance and Potluck begins at 5 p.m. today at Peterson Elementary School.

Chamber awards

The Kodiak Chamber of commerce holds its annual awards banquet at 6 p.m. today in the Kodiak Harbor Convention Center. The awards portion of the program begins at

Family skating fun

East Elementary School hosts an ice skating family fun night starting at 6 p.m. Saturday on the Baranof Park Ice Rink.

Arts council auction

The Arts and Adventure Auction to benefit the Kodiak Arts Council takes place Saturday in the Kodiak Harbor Convention Center. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the live auction begins at 7 p.m. Contact the arts council at 486-5291 for more information.
