The Alutiiq Museum hosts a Mother’s Day art workshop for kids from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. today in the museum. The event is free and open to the public, and all ages are welcome.
Fairy tale dance
Little School of Dance presents “Snow White and Rose Red” at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Gerald C. Wilson Auditorium. Tickets are $10.
Earth Day Triathlon
At 10 a.m. Saturday is the Earth Day Triathlon, which includes a 1-kilometer swim, a 5-kilometer run and a 20-kilometer bike ride. Registration closed Thursday, but spectators are encouraged for the race, which begins at Kodiak Community Pool.
Zombie 5K Fun Run
At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the Kodiak Football League hosts the Zombie 5K Fun Run at Fort Abercrombie State Historic Park. Runners will dodge volunteers dressed as zombies as they traverse the park course. There is a $15 registration fee, and proceeds go toward the football league.
Car wash fundraiser
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, the Coast Guard base will host a car wash fundraiser to benefit the Coast Guard Foundation. The car wash will take place between Hangar 2 and the C-130 lot.
At 9 p.m. Saturday, St. James the Fisherman hosts a Taize service for all members of the Kodiak community. Taize is a candle-lit service that uses simple songs and periods of silence to encourage meditation and contemplation. For more information, visit www.stjamesthefisherman.com/Taize.html.
Run for Congo Women
At 2 p.m. Sunday in Fort Abercrombie State Historical Park is the Run for Congo Women, a fundraising run/walk to benefit Women for Women International. Register online at www.active.com. The entry fee for adults is $25, and the fee for children is $5.
