Carolyn Rae Haakanson Davis of Kodiak went to Heaven on May 29, 2013 with her family by her side.

She was born in Kodiak on Oct. 22, 1963. Carolyn graduated Port Lions High School where she received her high school diploma and then continued onto Ayers Institute where she received her certified bookkeeping degree.

Carolyn had a quiet, gentle spirit and infectious laugh. She was a joy to be around. Carolyn grew up in the remote village of Port Lions.

Her brothers, sisters and herself hiked, played in the lagoon, swam in the water fall and camped. Carolyn's life would seem too short for many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Although she was so tiny and frail, she gave us all courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.

She was survived by her children: Melinda Davis, Caitlin Nelson and Breanna Shangin; grandchildren Christian Davis and Lilly Nelson; brothers and sisters Marilyn Wagner, Margaret Mullan, Gloria Haakanson-Rickard, Walter Haakanson, Olivia Flannery, Barbara Bundy, Fred Squartsoff and many nieces and nephews. She is preceeded in death by her parents Herman and Fedosia (Faye) Haakanson Sr., brothers Herman Lee Haakanson Jr. and Nicholas Dean Haakanson along with many other beloved family members.

Carolyn's memorial service will be held at 1 o’clock Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Assembly of God Church in Kodiak.

“See you in the moonlight, Carolyn!”
