After its first try was aborted by more than 4 inches of snow on Mother's Day, organizers of the Kodiak Run For Congo Women had better luck on Tuesday.

Under brilliant blue skies, about 50 runners and walkers gathered at Fort Abercrombie State Historical Park for the second annual 5-kilometer event.

While some participants brought their dogs, others brought musical instruments, providing live music as runners looped the park's shady trails.
