KODIAK — The National Weather Service has issued a gale warning today for Marmot Bay, Chiniak Bay, and all waters surrounding Kodiak Island.

According to the weather service, southeast wind gusts could reach 40 knots (46 mph) by the afternoon, with 14-foot seas in unsheltered waters.

Mixed rain and snow is likely in Kodiak during the morning, transitioning to rain as temperatures warm throughout the day.

Up to two inches of snow is possible, and rain is likely to persist through Friday morning before skies clear Friday afternoon.

Light showers are possible by Saturday afternoon.
