I’m no Felix Hernandez, but I joined him last week in the Perfect Club Lounge.

Hernandez pitched the first perfect game in the 35-year history of the Seattle Mariners, while I authored a perfect week in picking high school football games.

If you ask me, both are astonishing feats.

I went 7-0 last week to up my season total to 14-3 for a winning percentage of .823. I guess I should stop now while I’m above my season goal of .800.

For the second straight week, there was a schedule mishap as Homer did not travel to Barrow to face the Whalers as the schedule had indicated.

Oh, well. I was perfect, nonetheless.

Hernandez lost his bid at a second perfect game on Tuesday. Here is my attempt to remain perfect in Week 3.

Ketchikan (0-2) at Thunder Mountain (1-1) — The Falcons are flying right now and will pick up their second conference win in as many weeks ... FALCONS 35, KINGS 12.

Monroe (2-0) at Sitka (1-1) — Monroe pads its record against a Southeast Conference team ... RAMS 27, WOLVES 7.

Eielson (2-0) at Valdez (0-2) — Eielson will continue to be the state’s top mid-small school team after this week ... RAVENS 56, BUCCANEERS 0.

Nikiski (1-1) at Houston (1-1) — The highlight of Houston’s season might have been a Week 1 win and a stint as the No. 2 team in the state. This one goes the way of the ... BULLDOGS 28, HAWKS 14.

Seward (0-2) at Thunder Mountain JV — Really, do I have to pick this game? This will be the game to ruin my perfect week ... FALCONS JV 24, SEAHAWKS 17.

Homer (0-1) at Kenai (0-2) — Kenai hasn’t looked good in its two losses to large school teams to begin the season. This week the Kardinals are facing a Northern Lights Conference team and should get untracked ... KARDINALS 32, MARINERS 24.

Soldotna (1-1) at Skyview (0-2) — Soldotna got back on track with a 70-0 victory over Ketchikan last week. It should be more of the same this week against a cross-town rival ... STARS 56, PANTHERS 0.

Kodiak (2-0) at Palmer (2-0) — Kodiak has had a nice start to the season, but having to face large-school No. 2 Palmer, a team playing on its new artificial turf field for the first time, is not going to be an easy task ... MOOSE 28, BEARS 14.
