KMS wrestling places 3 at Palmer Invite

The Kodiak Middle School wrestling team produced three varsity placers at the Palmer Jr./Middle School Invitational on Saturday in the Mat-Su Valley.

Joshua Nummer claimed the 114-pound title with a 4-2 overtime win over Colony’s Frank Urbano.

Nicholas Doerkson placed third at 110 pounds with a 5-1 record, while Kodi Kroll finished fourth at 160 pounds with a 2-2 mark.

Kodiak’s junior varsity team produced five placers.

Kaleb Finley (126 pounds) and Hamo Sega (148) each won their brackets, while Stephen Chopek (84) and Rafael Bitanga (126) placed second. Dylan Parker (126) finished fourth.

Kodiak Middle School took 41 wrestlers to the 16-team tournament and placed seventh overall with 76 points.
