Kodiak JV wins at Houston Invite

Kodiak’s junior varsity picked up a pair of victories Thursday at the Houston Baseball JV Invitational Tournament in Houston.

Kodiak knocked off the tournament host, 6-0, and Soldotna, 4-2. Both games went two innings under the 60-minute time limit for pool play games.

Against Houston, Kalen Willis had a bunt single and scored a pair of runs, while Morgan Moir had a single and scored a run.

Sam Bennett pitched two innings while striking out five and allowing one hit.

Against Soldotna, Alex Pace ripped a two-run double in Kodiak’s four-run first inning. Giovanni Martinez also added a run-scoring single in the first and picked up the win pitching both innings.

Kodiak finishes pool play today with games against Kenai (11:30 a.m.), Hutchison (2:30 p.m.) and Palmer (7:30 p.m.).

The tournament concludes Saturday with a 7-inning game.
