Former Kodiak resident John B. Eaton, 79, passed away on May 6, 2012, in Sequim, Wash.

John was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Erie, Pa., to Clarence L. and Bessie A. Eaton. After moving to Arizona, he graduated from Tucson High School in 1951 and then went on to receive a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Idaho State University in 1963. While at ISU, he was a member of the professional pharmacy fraternity, Phi Delta Chi.

He married Shirley Gladstone in 1961 and they moved to Kodiak in 1975, where they owned Mill Bay Pharmacy. In 1988, they moved to Sequim. In addition to working, John enjoyed salmon fishing and coaching American Legion baseball.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley, and the couple’s four children: Diane (Scott) Ziegler of Everett, Wash.; Mark (Michele) Eaton of Kent, Wash.; Scott Eaton of Everett, and Wendy Eaton of Bainbridge Island, Wash. Also grandchildren: Barry, Doug and Taryn Ziegler and Matthew and Elizabeth Eaton. He is also survived by a brother, Martin (Linda) Eaton of Kodiak and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on June 2 in Sequim.
