The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board monthly meeting is scheduled for noon Tuesday, July 17, in the Baranof Park office. The agenda is as follows: 1. Roll Call; 2. Public Testimony on Non-Agenda Items; 3. Approval of Agenda; 4. Approval of Meeting Minutes; 5. Discussion Items; 6. Director’s Report; 7. Board Comments; 8. Adjournment.
Bob Harding of D.A. Hogan Inc., the project manager and architect, will be present to discuss the Baranof Park project. Other discussion items include a review of parks and recreation fees and charges.
Advisory board members are Andrew Brown, Mary Kay Bunker, John Butler, Marcus Dunbar, Amy Fogle, Natasha Hayden, Derrik Magnuson and Jim Willis.
Youth swim lessons are separated by skill level and students must be at least 3 years old to participate. They are held Monday through Thursday, starting at 3:10 and 4:15 p.m., in the following five two-week sessions: June 4-14, June 18-28, July 2-12, July 16-26 and July 30-Aug. 9.

Daily schedule: Following is the summer schedule:
Morning lap swim: Monday through Friday, 6 to 7:30 a.m.; Saturday, 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Youth morning program: Monday through Thursday, 9 to 11 a.m. (The morning program normally held on Wednesday, July 4, is rescheduled to Friday, July 6.)
Noon lap: Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Afternoon open: Monday through Thursday, 1:30 to 3 p.m.; Saturday 2 to 5 p.m. (Afternoon open normally held on Wednesday, July 4, is rescheduled to Friday, July 6.)
Youth lessons: Monday through Thursday, 3:10 and 4:10 p.m. start times. (Youth lessons normally held on Wednesday, July 4, are rescheduled to Friday, July 6.)
Evening lap: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 5 to 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday 7 to 8 p.m.
Water aerobics: Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30 to 7 p.m.; and Saturday 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Evening open: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Family swim: Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m.
HIGH SCHOOL GYM
Indoor soccer is held in the high school gym on Sundays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Seth Minyard is the supervisor.
Morning powerball is in the high school gym on Sunday from 7 to 9 a.m. and in the middle school gym on Wednesday and Friday from 6 to 7:30 a.m. Paul Chervenak is in charge.
Baranof Park Ice Rink
Roller hockey is Wednesday and Sunday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Baranof Park ice rink. Men and women over 15 years old welcome. Contact Tim Hocum 539-2449 for more information.

General hours are Monday through Thursday noon to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 8 p.m.

Morning program started June 18 for youths entering kindergarten through sixth grades. Activities held in the high school include Red Cross age-appropriate swimming safety classes, group games in the gym and arts and crafts in the commons. Sunny day activities may include games at Baranof Park, tide pooling at North End Park, and visits to the touch tank at the Fisheries Research Center.
Children will also be participating in the KIBSD summer lunch program at Main Elementary from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Children are separated into three groups by age.
The program runs from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday in the following four two-week sessions: June 18-28, July 2-July 12, July 16-26 and July 30-Aug. 9. Sign up at the Teen Center.

Youth Soccer League is canceled this summer due to Baranof Park construction.
BRITISH SOCCER CAMP
British soccer camp: Challenger Sports, the No. 1 soccer company in the United States, Canada and Australia, will hold one of their British soccer training camps in Kodiak during the week of July 30 through Aug. 3 at Woody Way Field or in the Baranof Park ice rink, depending on the weather.
The camp will run Monday through Friday and each child will be coached by a member of challenger’s British coaching staff. Challenger will hold over 2,000 British soccer camps this summer and will coach over 100,000 players between the ages of 4 and 18 and over 20,000 parents and coaches.
British soccer camp sessions for ages 4 to 6 are 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., ages 6 through 16 can sign up for either half-day sessions — from 9 a.m. to noon, or 1 to 4 p.m. — or a full-day session, in which they participate in both morning and afternoon half-day sessions.
Each camper will receive a free camp T-shirt, soccer ball, giant soccer poster and an individual skills performance evaluation. Space is limited. Parents are encouraged to sign up on line, www.challengersports.com.
