Wasilla’s girls kept the state’s top ranking after a pair of impressive victories over Kodiak last week.

With the two wins, the Warriors remained perfect with an 8-0 record and remained the top 4A girls team in the Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches

This week, the Northern Lights Conference North Division leader Wasilla (3-0) hosts Soldotna and Kenai in a pair of NLC games.

Palmer slides in at No. 2. However, the Moose could fall after losing to unranked Colony 34-20 on Tuesday. It was their second loss of the season (0-2 NLC, 10-2 overall).

West Valley, Dimond and North Pole round out the girls’ top five spots.

Soldotna dropped out of this week’s rankings after debuting at No. 5 last week, despite going 2-1 at the Lady T-Bird Classic.

The Wasilla boys remained in the second spot after beating Kodiak twice over the weekend.

Wasilla, the top team in the NLC North Division at 3-0, is also hosting Soldotna and Kenai this weekend.

Bartlett kept its top spot, while Service and Dimond are ranked third and fourth.

Bartlett, though, could drop after losing to Dimond 70-59 earlier this week.

Palmer moved into the rankings at No. 5. The Moose edged Colony 59-57 on Tuesday and Eagle River 45-44 on Wednesday to improve to 9-5.

The Klawock girls, winners of the Joe Floyd tournament, are ranked second in the 2A poll.

Monroe Catholic tops both the boys and girls 3A polls, while the Tikigaq boys and girls top the 2A polls.
