A Kodiak woman is accused of stabbing a man with a scalpel after an argument.

Chandra Wenrich, 24, faces one count of first-degree assault for domestic violence, a class A felony.

According to court documents, a woman reported Saturday night that a man in a Spruce Cape Road home had a cut on his neck.

The man had a three-inch to four-inch cut on his neck, and was transported to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and released.

Alaska State Troopers who responded to the scene learned that a third person was involved and was injured inside the home.

When troopers entered the home, they discovered Chandra Wenrich lying on the kitchen floor. She was covered in blood and had numerous injuries, court records state.

During the investigation, troopers learned the three people had been partying and drinking alcohol at her home when they started arguing.

At some point Wenrich allegedly took a broken scalpel blade and cut the man’s neck. Wenrich told troopers she was concerned that the man would hurt the other woman, so she cut the man’s neck to get him to stop. She then fled the home and got in her truck.

Wenrich had another fight with the man after he came outside and she got out of the truck. She told troopers the man hit her and punched her in the face, causing the injuries.

The other woman and man involved told troopers that Wenrich jumped up out of nowhere and cut the man’s face. The man said he hit Wenrich twice when she got out of the truck because he thought she was going to “attack him again,” the document reads.

Troopers arrested Wenrich for first-degree assault and transported her to the Kodiak jail. This is Wenrich’s first felony appearance.
