• At approximately 12:20 p.m. Alaska State Troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Monashka Bay Road, three miles north of Pillar Creek. Investigation revealed a 2003 Ford pickup driven by a 51-year-old of Kodiak was northbound when it lost control on the downhill portion of an icy road and spun around, colliding with a 2000 GMC pickup driven southbound on Monashka Bay Road by a 65-year-old resident of Kodiak. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts and the driver of the GMC suffered only a minor injury. Total damage to the vehicles was estimated at $6,000. The driver of the Ford was issued a citation for driver to exercise due care to avoid collision.
