The Bears jumped out to a 5-1 lead and hung on to defeat the Knights 7-4 in a Southcentral Conference baseball game at Wasilla High School.
“It feels good to beat Colony again,” Kodiak coach Rick Langfitt said. “Colony just made way too many mistakes in the field. We put the ball in play and put pressure on them.”
Colony, the three-time defending conference champions, committed six errors, which dropped them to 1-1 on the season.
Patrick Pickett collected three hits and two RBIs, while Eddie Arellano Jr. added two hits for Kodiak.
Damon Hammer cut Kodiak’s lead to 5-4 with a three-run home run in the fifth inning, but Kodiak added two insurance runs in the seventh on a single by Pickett and a groundout by Austin Frick.
The win completes a two-day sweep of Wasilla and Colony as Kodiak ups its conference record to 3-0-1 and 4-4-1 overall.
On Friday and Saturday, Kodiak hosts Palmer.
