The Kodiak City Council meets for a regularly scheduled work sessional 7:30 p.m. today in the borough conference room on Mill Bay Road. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call the city clerk’s office at 486-8636.

Tax fraud warning

As the income tax filing deadline approaches, the Internal Revenue Service is warning Alaskans to beware of fraudulent refund claims. The fraud schemes typically are targeted at people who have little or no income and do not normally file taxes. The fraud typically offers a stimulus check or fraudulent refund, then asks for cash to collect it. Some scams simply collect personal information.
