Scrimshaw

for kids

Children 6 and older are invited to the Baranov Museum at 1 p.m. Saturday for a scrimshaw workshop. Kids will learn how to etch faux ivory medallions while younger visitors can participate in a scavenger hunt. There is no charge for the event, but pre-registration is recommended. Flea market

and fundraiser

The Coast Guard Spouses Association of Kodiak hosts its annual flea market inside Coast Guard Hangar 1 starting at 9 a.m. Saturday for members of the military, retirees and dependents, and 10 a.m. for all others. A fundraiser for the Belisle and Hopkins families, conducted by the Chief Warrant Officers Association and Chief Petty Officers Association, will take place simultaneously.

Lions car wash

The Kodiak Lions Club is conducting a benefit car wash from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Kodiak High School to benefit the Belisle-Hopkins Relief Fund. For more information, contact Stacy Ross at 654-0379.

St. Mary’s Serendipity auction

St. Mary’s Catholic School hosts its Serendipity Auction and dinner Saturday evening. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the dinner starts at 7 p.m. For dinner tickets, call the school at 486-3513.

Audubon whale watching hike to Narrow Cape

To participate in the Audubon Society’s Narrow Cape whale watching trip on Sunday, meet at the downtown ferry terminal with your car at 9:30 a.m. The trip is an all-day affair if you plan to do the four-mile hike. Non-hiking options are available. Bring binoculars, lunch, warm clothing and rain gear. Xtra Tuffs or other boots are also encouraged. For more information, call Stacy Studebaker at 486-6498.
