Old Harbor’s annual Fourth of July celebration included green with the red, white and blue as members of the city’s youth environmental group pitched in alongside other volunteers.

While the environmental group expanded its pro-recycling effort by creating new drop-off locations, other Old Harbor teens assisted with the annual Fourth of July flag-raising ceremony, filled water balloons or generally decorated the town.

“It has been a pleasure seeing so many teens coming out to pitch in and volunteer,” said Bobbi Anne Barnowsky, the environmental director for Old Harbor, in an email to the Kodiak Daily Mirror.

The biggest event of the day was the annual blessing of the fleet, and dozens turned out for the event.
