Both the Kodiak Major and Junior all-star squads got an unexpected day off Thursday.

Both teams’ District I pool play games in Anchorage were canceled because of unplayable field conditions.

That makes two consecutive days without games for the Majors, Kodiak’s 11- and 12-year-old all-star team.

Kodiak was supposed to play Anchorage-Military.

The Majors stand at 1-1 and in third-place in the five-team pool.

Knik is in first with a 3-0 record, while Anchorage Military is in second with a 1-1 mark.

Nunaka Valley-City View is 1-2 and Palmer is 0-2.

The top four teams qualify for the double-elimination District I Finals that begin July 14 in Anchorage.

Kodiak’s next game is today against Palmer.

The Juniors fell 13-3 in its opener against Dimond-West on Wednesday.

Kodiak was supposed to play Anchorage-Military Thursday. The team’s next game is Saturday against Polar, a 10-4 winner over Anchorage Military on Monday.

The top four teams in the five-team pool play move onto the District I Finals that begin July 14 in Anchorage.

No makeup dates for Thursday’s games had been scheduled prior to press deadline.
