The first comes on Aug. 29 when West Anchorage, West Valley, Kenai and Dimond invade Fort Abecrombie State Historical Park for a star-studded regular-season meet.
The meet will feature the top four boys teams at last year’s state meet — West Anchorage was first, West Valley second, Kodiak third and Kenai fourth.
“That will be a nice state preview,” Kodiak coach Marcus Dunbar said.
West Anchorage’s girls team also won state, while Kenai’s Allie Ostrander, a national-ranked runner, grabbed the individual title.
Ostrander will be making another appearance in Kodiak on Sept. 27 for the Region III championships. It will be the first time Kodiak will be hosting the meet since 2005.
All six large-school Region III teams — Colony, Kenai, Kodiak, Palmer, Soldotna and Wasilla — and four small-school squads — Anchorage Christian, Grace Christian, Homer and Seward — will be racing for spots at the state meet.
Seward will also be in Kodiak for a dual meet on Sept. 19.
